You seem to have ample of that.

I think whatever happened and is happening in Egypt is not some thing which happened all of a sudden because of a blog or Facebook. Anti-Americanism was a natural by-product.

In Vancouver there was a big backlash against the underground nuclear testing on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Alaska in 1971 (or was it 72?). That's how Greenpeace started - a protest movement against nukes blown up in our back yard on a major fault line. It was pretty hard to find anyone in Vancouver back then who was in favour of it, or anything American for that matter. Again, the bad feelings lingered long after.

ian in hamburghttp://lettershometoyou.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5203628.post-38823190138623497812012-12-23T21:51:44.594+02:002012-12-23T21:51:44.594+02:00In both the US and Canada it's just the racist...In both the US and Canada it's just the racists yammering on. In the US they are weird about the Mexicans and Muslims and in Canada it's been mostly about Asians and Indian/Pakistani's. There's no truth to the rumours...after all, my husband and I were both immigrants to Canada, him from Egypt and me from the US. Actually, a lot of people in Vancouver were pretty anti-American back in the 70's. I never let them get to me.Maryanne Stroud Gabbanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00858132776788616956noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5203628.post-34926038452241978002012-12-23T18:35:42.041+02:002012-12-23T18:35:42.041+02:00I've read your article with great interest. &#...I've read your article with great interest. 'From the horse's mouth', so to speak, ande you're right in the middle of it all.

Unfortunately (and seeing this from the outside) I suspect that the referendum in some ways have been manipulated. And for a reason!

I think that Egypt by this referendum has taken a gigantic step backwards, and I should think women in particular will be the ones to notice along with a number of minority groups.

I suspect you'll see 'Sharia laws' implemented during 2013 enforced with rigor! And I think there will be riots and mayhem in the streets.

Politic isolation, reduced aid from overseas, and a tourist industry moving rapidly towards 'zero'. Who would want to spend their holliday under Sharia laws?
Not liberal europeans, for sure!

And it's a pity, Egypt being a beautiful country with an old and facinating culture.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5203628.post-37302659611721592882012-12-23T18:28:17.254+02:002012-12-23T18:28:17.254+02:00I like to keep up with news from Canada, but have ...I like to keep up with news from Canada, but have failed to read anything about how immigrants are destroying the Canadian lifestyle.
