Egypt isn't what it appears to be in the media...but that's no real surprise, since not much is. I moved here in the late 80's from Toronto, Canada, with my Canadian/Egyptian husband, my son and my daughter. The children adapted quickly and we decided that this country was a good place to live. Now I wouldn't change my home for anything.

The End Of An Era
The Bob expired today quietly in his home in the aviary. He died of old age, actually quite extreme old age. In the wild hedgehogs only live to be about four years old and The Bob was closer to about eight or so. He was never a cuddly individual but he would come out to see what I had for him to eat whenever he heard my voice in the aviary. Hedgehogs are....well, prickly. But he was a much loved member of the community and was a gift from Uma and Jim when they moved from Cairo to Singapore.
He will be buried in the garden under a laurel tree that needs to be transplanted into the earth.
Farewell, Bob. You gave many people much pleasure during your life with us.

RIP, Bob.

very good
i like your blog and photo so much
ahmed
Awh, poor The Bob. He didn't get to have Bobettes and fool around with Boboçinas....
Do vets neuter hedgehogs or what? To be honest, that's what I was wondering. I guess so many years of hermitlike existence, in re: hedgehog society, would have been somewhat frustrating. One assumes that even prickly little buggers have their 'needs' and 'desires'....
How are your baby horses? Can we have some updates please?
What a nice picture of the hedgehog! Did not know that their feet are that long!
I am sorry that The Bob has expired. Nice litte fellow.
